GMR Smart Electricity Distribution Private Limited has secured an order from PuVVNL DISCOM to replace ~27.3 lakh existing meters with Smart Meters in 27 months which has to be maintained for 93 operational months. To execute the projects, a SPV (GMR Kashi Smart Meters Limited) was formed. The project area is spread across ~20,183 sq km in the eastern region of UP having a Rural:Urban mix of around 80:20.
The project is to create and Advanced Metering Infrastructure by replacing non-smart meters with smart meters which has the functionality of bidirectional communication along with remote connect / disconnect facility. Thirty-minute interval data is being collected from every metering points which were fetched by fully integrated software solutions and the data is being stored in Cloud. Advanced data analytics, real-time dashboards, interactive customer app, error free – human intervention free billing, state-of-the-art validation-estimation-engines are some of the key functionalities of this AMI system.
