Self-Baggage Drop Facility at GMR Airports

3 July 2023

In a world where every second counts, especially for airport passengers seeking expedited movement, the challenges of navigating through traffic and embracing the role of a global citizen underscore the pressing demand for technology that's both swift and efficient.

Responding to this demand, GMR, in its relentless pursuit of offering a delightful and seamless passenger experience, has introduced the latest technology this year, Self-Baggage Drop (SBD) at their Delhi, Hyderabad, and Goa Airports, elevating the travel experience to another level.

SBD is a fully automated and advanced passenger-friendly initiative that aims to streamline the baggage drop-off process and enhance the overall airport experience by reducing the wait time for passengers by approximately 15-20 minutes. Revolutionizing the check-in process enables travellers to explore various airport amenities and enjoy their journey right from the airport.

You can avail this service in two easy steps:

Step 1: Self Check In Approach a self-check in kiosk to print the boarding pass. At the kiosk, select the baggage option, provide the details such as the number of bags, weight and print the bag tags.

Step 2: Self Bag Drop Post baggage tagging, proceed to the self-bag drop unit. Place the baggage on the conveyor belt and scan the barcode on the boarding pass to initiate the bag drop process. The self-bag drop unit performs checks on the bag, and if everything is in order, it processes the bag and sends a confirmation to the airline. If the baggage does not meet the required criteria, the self-bag drop unit rejects it and will prompt the passenger to seek assistance from a check-in agent.

This facility is currently available for domestic passengers only. Post mandatory approvals it will be available for international passengers as well.

While GMR continuously works on improving the airport experience for you, you can now spend more time with your family and friends before catching your flight.
