Digi Yatra: Simplifying your travel across airports

2 March 2023

Heading towards a digitally empowered society, GMR-led Delhi and Hyderabad Airport have introduced several technologies to ensure simplified and seamless travel for passengers. And, this time both airports are contributing towards the Government of India's vision of using Facial Recognition Technology (FRT) via the Digi Yatra program for contactless and paperless processing of passenger information through different checkpoints at airports. The Digi Yatra app available both on Android and iOS has made the process so seamless that even our young passengers are able to pass through various airport checkpoints in a jiffy, without much assistance.

While Delhi Airport is among the first 7 airports where the service was launched in the first phase across India. This will be followed by Hyderabad Airport and the other 3 Indian airports getting the facility by March 2023. Presently, the service is voluntary in nature and is available for domestic flight passengers only. Even the newly launched New Goa Manohar International Airport is further being planned to be made Digi Yatra ready for a hassle-free boarding process (Facial Recognition Technology).

To further educate travelers with lessons on how to use the Digi Yatra app, Delhi airport has set up a virtual reality kiosk at gate number 2 of Terminal 3. Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm at no cost, everyone coming to Terminal 3, can make use of the VR equipment (VR headsets and joystick) to understand the Digi Yatra journey across various airport junctures.
