Delhi Airport and Hyderabad-based GMR Aero Technic Win Top Honours at Wings India 2026, Reinforcing GMR Aero’s Aviation Leadership

Hyderabad/New Delhi, 30 January 2026: GMR Aero, the aviation business arm of the GMR Group, has achieved significant recognition at Wings India 2026, India’s premier civil aviation event, with accolades for Delhi International Airport and GMR Aero Technic, its Hyderabad-based aircraft maintenance subsidiary. The awards were presented by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri K Rammohan Naidu at the event held in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) was adjudged the “Best Airport of the Year”, recognising its excellence across passenger experience, operational efficiency, infrastructure development, and technology-led innovation. The airport has consistently invested in smart systems, digital passenger facilitation, and capacity enhancement to handle growing traffic seamlessly.

In addition, Delhi Airport was also named “Sustainability Champion”, underscoring its leadership in renewable energy adoption, carbon neutrality initiatives, waste management, water stewardship, and environmentally responsible airport operations. It is among the few airports globally to achieve advanced levels of Airport Carbon Accreditation, reflecting its long-term commitment to climate action.

Further strengthening GMR Aero’s achievement, GMR Aero Technic was awarded “Best MRO Services”, acknowledging its contribution to building world-class aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in India.

Based at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, GMR Aero Technic operates a state-of-the-art narrow-body MRO facility offering base maintenance for narrow-body aircraft, along with specialised services such as structural repairs, avionics upgrades, component repairs, and aircraft painting. It also provides line maintenance services at 14 airports across India and one in Nepal, serving both domestic and international airlines. The facility is a key enabler of India’s efforts to build a strong domestic MRO ecosystem, reduce dependence on overseas maintenance facilities, and advance the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat in the civil aviation sector.

Wings India is India’s flagship civil aviation event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India (AAI) and FICCI.
