GMR Group steps up to distribute essential supplies to migrant workers during the lockdown

With the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting nation-wide lockdown having brought India virtually to a standstill position, many migrant labour are facing a tough time in coping with the situation. With neither money in their hands nor any safe shelter available, the migrant labours are the most affected during these tumultuous times.

Recognizing the important role played by these migrant labour in nation building and in keeping the economy running, GMR Corona Warriors, primarily the members of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (CSR arm of GMR Group) across the nation have stepped in to support them in their hour of need.

GMR led Hyderabad Airport team in co-ordination with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has pledged to distribute 1000 food packets daily, during the lockdown

GMR Highways’ team distribute essential items to migrant workers and people living in slums around GMR Hyderabad- Vijayawada, GMR Pochanpalli, GMR Ambala- Chandigarh Expressways.

Delhi Airport team in co-ordination with Delhi Police and Society for Promotion of Youth & Masses (SPYM) is distributing food packets to thousands of needy people.

GMR Kakinada SEZ team in collaboration with Red Cross distributes essentials to municipal contract workers who have been keeping the smart Kakinada city clean, hygenic and dis-infectious, round the clock.
