Heave sigh of relief for your lost valuables at the airport

29 January 2021

"The joy is not just about recovering the lost property; I could have perhaps forgotten and moved on with my loss but, it's the sheer joy, pleasure and astounding experience that I have had with you," wrote Nymphea Banerjee in a heartfelt note when she got back her gold bangles from Hyderabad Airport's Lost & Found Section.

Her note continued to describe the unparalleled service she received from the Lost and Found team at Delhi Airport. “Your unmatched professional standards, high standards of ethics, integrity and compassion have impressed me. I can certainly tell you that whenever I travel by air next time and visit an airport manned by GMR, I will not only feel safe but also have an ear to ear smile because of the great experience I had with you and GMR team earlier. Keep up the great work GMR. Wish you lots of success in future,” read an excerpt from Banerjee's mail.

Incidents like this have often happened with many travellers. At some point in time, we all have experienced the anxiety of losing or misplacing our belongings. On the day of their journey, some flyers are either in a rush to catch their flight, or some stay extra attentive while following the security procedures at the airport. While travellers are preoccupied with personal or professional reasons at the airport, they often tend to forget collecting back their valuables.

At times many of these belongings are either expensive or may contain a lot of important personal information that one can simply not afford to lose. The hassle of losing such possessions also tends to ruin the journey.

Lost something valuable at the airport? Save your belongings from getting lost or reaching into wrong hands with Delhi and Hyderabad airport’s Lost and Found desk. From bags or wallets containing money and credit cards to white/yellow metal ornaments, and electronics items, the Lost and Found team of GMR’s Delhi and Hyderabad Airports have always been on the top-notch to help reunite passengers with their lost precious possessions.

To make sure that the items found at the airport reach their rightful owners, there is a full proof procedure in place.

Procedure 1

If the passenger is collecting it personally, following documents need to be provided in hard copies:

Copy of the passenger's boarding card.

Copy of passenger's Photo Id card (PAN card/Passport/Driving License).

Procedure 2

If the passenger is authorizing a representative to collect their belongings on his/her behalf, following documents need to be provided in hard copies:

Authorization letter by the passenger.

Copy of representative’s Photo Identification (PAN card/Passport/ Driving License).

Copy of passenger's Photo Id card (PAN card/Passport/ Driving License).

Copy of the passenger's boarding card/copy of the travel ticket.

Even during the COVID-19 widespread, which had brought along several challenges in the functioning of the aviation sector, the Lost and Found teams of both the airports managed to extend their hands of support for the travelers who were already terrified due to the situation.

During this pandemic situation, the passengers were not allowed to enter the arrivals for collecting their lost possessions. At the same time, they received a countless number of queries about lost items over calls. Despite all the difficulties, the team managed to overcome these obstacles and helped in handing over the items found to their rightful owners.

While these are just a few examples of the way where the team has been praised for being efficient and supportive in taking care of their lost items, GMR Airports’ Lost and Found department has helped thousands of travellers rescue their lost possessions with prompt action.
