GMR Varalakshmi CARE Hospital celebrates a decade of dedicated healthcare service

GMR Varalakshmi Foundation - the CSR arm of the GMR group has been providing affordable world-class healthcare facilities since last 10 years through GMR Varalakshmi CARE Hospital, located in Rajam, a small town in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. The multi-specialty 200-bedded hospital, spread over 25 acres' campus is known for providing affordable and comprehensive health care services to the people of both Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts under one roof. This NABH-accredited hospital, offers services in General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neonatology & Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Dental, ENT, Critical Care, Nephrology, and Ophthalmology.

This is one of the very few hospitals in the state to have some of the advanced medical equipment like CT scanner, Digital X-Ray units, Auto analyzers, Ultra sound machines, 2D Echo and ECG Machines, Laparoscopic machines, Infusion pumps, Ventilator & Anesthesia Machines, High Pressure Steam sterilizers, Defibrillator, Electrolyte Analyzer, Blood Coagulation analyzers, Haematology Analyzers, Binocular Microscopes, Trinocular Microscopes, Automated Immunology Analyzers, Hem dialysis Machines, Urology Endoscopes, Laminar Flow workstation & Bio-safety cabinets, Autoclave machines, Double door sterilizers in the area.

The Hospital is having first of its kind state of the art Blood bank in both districts with component facility, which helps in treating dengue fevers and snake bites. Thalassemia and sickle cell anemia children are benefited by the blood bank in the vicinity.

To mark its decade-long journey in rendering service to the society, the Hospital would be providing free of cost Patient Concession Card (PCC) to 25,000 families. Using it, five members of a beneficiary family can avail free OPD consultation, concession on investigations and concession for surgery charges.

Since its inception, over 7 lakh people availed of its Out-Patient services, while 55,000 patients availed of In-Patient services. The hospital, with its three well-equipped and laminar flow operation theatres, has performed over 30,000 successful surgeries, including over 2,000 laparoscopic surgeries.


Apart from these, the hospital has successfully handled over 5,000 trauma cases, served over 8 Lakh prescriptions in Pharmacy, screened 3 Lakh patients in Radiology department and 4.5 Lakh plus patients in Laboratory services.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital, affiliated to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), conducted Rapid antigen tests. It successfully counselled COVID-19 positive patients and offered treatment to people infected with corona virus. The Hospital has been identified as a COVID 19 vaccination centre for the town and nearby areas by the government.
