The struggles continued even after she got married. Determining to not succumb to the challenges life threw at her, she decided to take up a job.

At this junction of her life, she came across GMR Varalakshmi Center for Empowerment and Livelihoods at Shamshabad. She had always felt the necessity to learn driving as a skill, and this desire grew strong when she got to know about the excavator operator course being offered at the center.

Radhika was initially hesitant to join this course but with adequate counselling and motivation by the GMRVF team, she decided to take admission. Her husband’s support and encouragement played a massive role in breaking Radhika’s shell.

She enrolled herself in the excavator operator course and diligently learnt the nuances of operating a heavy machine from the expert trainer. As a part of the training, she learned about safety measures and soft skills along with driving. She excelled with her determination and grit, successfully completing the course.

GMR Varalakshmi Center for Empowerment and Livelihoods also facilitates placement support. Radhika bagged a job within GMR Group after clearing the selection process. She is now a proud GMR employee.

“I am proud of myself for being looked at as a role model to other girls who wish to take up unconventional roles in their career”, says Radhika.
