DIAL Awards Concession For New In-Flight Catering Facility To East India Hotels Ltd

New Delhi, 25th August, 2009 :

Delhi International Airport (P) Limited (DIAL) has signed concession agreement with East India Hotels limited (EIH Ltd.) for a term of 25 yrs. to finance, design, develop, construct, operate, manage, maintain for provision of in-flight catering facilities and services at Indira Gandhi International Airport(IGI Airport), New Delhi. DIAL also signed a 25 year concession agreement with Çelebi Hava Servisi AS of Turkey to upgrade modernize, finance, operate and maintain and manage the existing Cargo Terminal on an area of approx 70,000 sq.mts. at IGI Airport, New Delhi.

Pursuant to a competitive bidding process, DIAL has awarded a new in-flight catering facility to EIH Ltd. EIH Ltd will develop new in-flight catering facility at approximately 18,500 sq.mts. land at IGI Airport, New Delhi. The new in-flight catering facility will be with a state of art technology to meet requirements of International quality standards. This new in-flight catering facility will be designed by well known Singapore based Flight Catering facility planner ‘I+O Industry Planning and Organization Pte. Ltd’ . This new in-flight catering facility will have initial capacity of 30,000 meals per day and in 2015 it will be expanded to 40,000 meals per day to meet future demand.

Further, DIAL plans to develop world class cargo infrastructure with an aim to make the airport into a major international hub for cargo operation with most modern technology and state-of-the-art equipment. There was a global interest in this cargo opportunity at DIAL. These development initiatives are ongoing in creating the right environment to support, growth, quality and innovation for the Air Cargo business at the IGI Airport. The future projects as part of the Cargo Master plan include Logistics Complexes, Specialized Cargo Zones etc.

Construction work is currently underway for IGI Airport’s Terminal 3 which is scheduled to be in operation before the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi. T3 would be among the largest passenger terminals in the world covering more than 5 million sq fts. It is would be an integrated terminal handling both domestic and international departure and arrivals. T3 is part of Phase 1 of IGI Airport’s Master Plan development having a total project outlay of exceeding USD 2 billion and would increase the airport’s capacity to handle more than 60 million passengers a year. About Çelebi Hava Servisi AS: In Turkey Celebi has a 17,639 sq.mts. handling and storage area including modern facilities for DGR, Hi- Value, Perishables and other equipments with tailor-made cargo management system as well as 300 unit ETV-train. At Budapest Airport, Hungary Celebi Ground Handling has a semi-automated warehouse compromising of 7,878 sq.mts.
