The Vocational Training Center in Bangalore was started in October 2009 to impart quality skill training along with life skill inputs to dropout youth from vulnerable families. Equal emphasis is given to facilitating suitable job placement for the trainees.
Presently, CEL- Bangalore is running four market-oriented courses - Basic Computers, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning (in partnership with Voltas), Electrical Training (in partnership with Schneider Electric) and Industrial Tailoring. Life skills and spoken English training is also imparted. Trainees are exposed to real work situations through structured field visits. They are given free bus passes to commute from home to the Centre and back.
Subhadra Stands on Her Own Feet!
- So far, the Institute has trained 1163 candidates (Female - 730 and Male - 433) and 1022 (Female – 607 and Male -415) of them secured placement.
- Maintains good networking with NGOs to mobilize candidates for training
- Institute has also developed partnerships with reputed trainers and potential employers.
Subhadra is a 19 year old girl from Bakshi Garden Slum, Bangalore. Her parents passed away when she was a little girl and she was brought up by her sister. Subhadra had completed her Intermediate. Foundation’s community worker identified Subhadra as a suitable candidate for the Basic Computer Course at CEL B. Subhadra completed the course with commendable dedication and passion. On successful completion, she got placement with Metamorph Learning Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore and is drawing a salary of Rs 6500 per month.
Subhadra made the following statement on the day she received her first salary:
