Delhi Airport takes another step towards inclusivity by further enhancing special assistance offering by creating a Sunflower Friendly Airport. In the rush at the busiest airport in the country, we make sure no one is left behind. Sunflower initiative aims to enhance the travel experience for those who might need some extra help.

Under the globally recognized Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Initiative, a variety of merchandise like Sunflower Lanyards, pin badges, and wristbands will be handed out to those who ask for it. These discreet, yet identifiable items allow passengers to signal their need for assistance from the airport staff. The Sunflower merchandise is available for collection at the Helpdesks and Information counters located within the terminals.

When a passenger with hidden disabilities dons the Sunflower lanyard/pin/wristband, they can easily and subtly identify themselves to make their needs known to the airport staff. The staff is trained to identify and cater to passengers wearing sunflower merchandise, who will empathetically approach them and provide the necessary help. To build an ecosystem that understands inclusivity, all passenger facing partners at the airport are sensitized about Sunflower Initiative and have undergone a comprehensive training on the nuances of hidden disabilities and how to approach an individual wearing the Sunflower emblem.

Delhi Airport strives to empower passengers with hidden disabilities to travel with confidence, knowing that they have the necessary support at every step of their journey by embracing diversity and nurturing an all-inclusive atmosphere.

GMR’s unwavering commitment to providing a seamless and comfortable travel experience for all passengers ensures that passengers are dealt with care throughout their journey by creating an environment that is sensitive, supportive, and accommodating.
