Every year the first week of October is celebrated as Daan Utsav (Joy of Giving Week) at GMR Group, instilling a feeling of volunteering and serving the underserved. This week witnesses immense joy through ‘acts of giving’. Stepping out of office desks and helping others is the essence of the week and a core value of the GMR Group. Employees and associates come forward in huge numbers to contribute their skills and resources in this week-long festival.

Care and compassion were crucial to understand the community’s needs. From distributing sewing machines, nutritious fruit packets to patients in hospitals, dry food ration to people living below the poverty line, and mats, bedsheets and warm clothes, to science kits in middle schools, sanitary napkins to school and college students, books for primary school students and organizing a dinner at an orphanage are some of the creative efforts of the talented employees at GMR. Going the extra mile, our employees have also donated 181 units of blood to blood banks.

The efforts don’t end here. Individual social responsibility is practiced at an extensive scale in GMR. Employees collect money in their gullak (piggy banks) on a daily basis. At the end of the year the amount adds up to be a substantial amount that can help someone in need. The financial donations this year have been record breaking. More than ₹1,11,500 have been collected by employees for the community. Each rupee of this grand amount will be used for community development activities conducted by the CSR wing of the GROUP – GMR VARALAKSHMI FOUNDATION (GMRVF).

GMRVF will ensure the money reaches those who need them the most and give wings to the dreams of the communities we serve.
