Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh
GMR Bundelkhand Energy Pvt. Ltd signed an MOU with the Government of Madhya Pradesh on 22nd October, 2010 to set up a Thermal Power Plant in this area. The Niwari block of Tikamgarh district of the Bundelkhand region in MP will be the location of the project. Project commenced its activities from November 2010. GMRVF has initiated its community development activities in the month of January, 2011. Foundation is working in 13 villages at this location which cover 3 Panchayats namely Beejour, Deoru Kalrau and Deori Bamnau. Initially, a base line survey was conducted in all the villages to understand the socio-economic situation of the communities here, and based on the outcomes of the survey plan for community development work has been prepared.
Education
GMRVF has partnered with various govt. schools and Anganwadis of the location to improve quality of education. “Pravesh Utsav” has been organized in 4 Primary Schools to motivate the parents to enroll their children in schools. School bags, books and other stationary were distributed to all the children in these schools.
Health, Hygiene and Sanitation
3 Health clinics have been established in 3 villages to provide quality health care services to the communities. Several general and specialized health camps have been organized for different sections of community apart from organizing various health awareness programs.
Empowerment and Livelihoods
Trainings are organized for farmers on System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method, kharif cultivation and other issues with the support of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Several training programs have been organized for members of Self Help Groups in order to strengthen them.
